UPS & DOWNS

ROUNDUP

DOWN: Theodore M. Aguilera, publisher of the "California's Glamour Girls" calendar, for not knowing what day it is. Okay, no one buys a pin-up calendar to look at the dates, but that doesn't mean they should be wrong! In the Glamour Girls calendar, both March, 2002, and January, 2003, are off by a day. That said, we can't wait `til Christmas. It/s in December, isn't it?

UP: To Piagglo USA, for its compre hensive "Roadside Assistenza" pro gram. Good for one year after the purchase of a Vespa ET2 or ET4 scooter, the 24-hour plan covers prac tically any mishap, including flat tires and running out of gas! Talk about peace of mind...

UP: To Bob Higdon, contributing edi tor for On The Level, a BMW club newsletter, for his outright heresy. Writing in the February/March issue, Higdon artfully takes BMW to task for its linked power brakes ("miserable things") and refusal to acknowledge fuel-injection glitches ("...Oilheads and F650s don't surge-unless you turn the ignition key on."). Still a Mu nich-man at heart, Higdon ends his fusillade with, "Ah, what the hell... we'll give them a pass for another year, bless their little dark hearts, and hope that their airbag research pro gresses speedily. They're going to need airbags if they don't fix those damned brakes." Ouch!
