STICKIN’ TO THE STREET
Having won 28 out of a possible 29 AMA 600 and 750cc Supersport Championships is strong evidence that the wheels of development are always turning at Dunlop. And while the new D208 ZR has certainly benefited from lessons learned in competition, it offers characteristics specific to riding on public roads: excellent cold-temperature performance, a balance of wet and dry grip, exceptional ride compliance, solid stability and improved wear. Along with other members of the moto-press, I recently sampled these new DOT-approved skins on a wide range of late-
model sportbikes at Virginia International Raceway. On everything from the Honda Interceptor and Kawasaki ZX-6R to the brutish Suzuki GSX-R1000, the latest addition to the Sportmax family performed quite well, delivering light, neutral handling and plenty of grip. What’s more, the tire is more than a pound lighter than its predecessor, the 0207 ZR, greatly reducing unsprung mass.
Suggested retail pricing ranges from $152 for a 120/60-17 front to $265 for a 200/50-17 rear. -Don Canet
