SPECIAL-ISSUE YAMAHAS
What’s better than one limited-edition Yamaha Road Star? Two limited-edition Road Stars! Paying homage to Yamaha’s first cruiser, the 1978 XS650 Special, the 2003 Road Star Limited Edition ($11,899) and windshield-and-saddlebag-equipped Road Star Silverado Limited Edition ($13,299) stand out from the rest of the cruiser crowd via Liquid Silver paint, chromed front ends, limited-edition serial plates, speedometer logos and blacked-out engines. The ’03 FZ1 ($8499) gets special attention, too, with three paint options: Team Yamaha Blue, Liquid Silver or yellow/black. Frames are black, as is the engine and swingarm on the ? $100-more-costly latter version.
Next year is also the 25th anniversary of the opening of Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, which accounts for a whopping 40 percent-some 360,000 units— of Yamaha’s worldwide motorcycle and ATV sales. -Matthew Miles
