FLYING EYEBALL FEVER

An exhibition honoring the late Kenneth Howard, better known as “Von Dutch,” will run from September 3 to October 5 at the Art Galleries of California State University North-ridge, and December 7, 2002 to January 26, 2003, at Grand Central Art Center at California State University Fullerton. “Von Dutch: An American Original” is believed to be the most comprehensive collection of original Von Dutch works ever assembled. It will include bicycles, motorcycles, paintings, signs, miniature cannons and other weaponry, and Howard’s custom-built “Kenford” work truck. A corollary exhibition, “Dutched!,” will feature the work of 20 Howard-influenced artists from California and abroad. For more information, log on to www.csun.edu/artgalleries.

VOXAN RESCUED?

Nearly one year after being put into official receivership, troubled French bike-maker Voxan faced its fate-and appears to be getting a fresh start. Of the seven proposed buy-out plans, only two were given serious consideration. Didier Cazaux, CEO of Guy Coach (a company specializing in luxury yachts), won out. He will pay approximately $500,000 for the rights to the Voxan name and its assets.
