No word if she’ll trade her Honda CBR600F4 and Yamaha TTR250 for their Kawi counterparts.
COMMUTE ON YOUR SCOOT
With 10 million registered streetbikes sharing the road with seemingly a bazillion automobiles and trucks, U.S. motorcyclists are clearly in the minority. How, then, to promote biking’s environmental, social and urban advantages? By taking part in the 10th annual Ride To Work Day, that’s how.
Headed by Aerostich creator Andy Goldfine, the July 18th event “demonstrates that motorcycling is a social good and that riders are from all occupations.” For more info, log onto www.ridetowork.org.
PRIMO ITALIANO
Where to chow down while your Aprilia, Cagiva, Ducati, MV Agusta or Husqvarna is serviced or hot-rodded with the latest Italian add-ons? The Corse Café, of course. For a morning kick-start, try the “Superbike-blend” coffee! The 30,000-square-foot shop also serves as headquarters for co-owner Mitch Hansen’s Ducati-backed AMA Superbike effort, “Our aim is to make Corse Super Bikes the premier Italian café dealership, not just in America, but worldwide,” says Hansen. CONTAMINATION CONUNDRUM
To help curb the spread of foot and mouth disease, Britain’s Auto Cycle Union has banned off-road motorcycle racing. Many events take place on farmland used for animal rearing, says the sanctioning body, and participants and spectators live and work in the nearby countryside.
