R1150RS: High-Tech Sport-Touring
BMW’s R1100RS was a technological tour de force when it debuted in 1993, but it’s soldiered on largely unchanged for the last eight years. So it was about time the sport-tourer received the more powerful 1150cc engine, six-speed gearbox and catalytic converter that now grace the rest of BMW’s twin-cylinder lineup.
That’s not the only news, however, as the RS also got the new EVO servo-assisted front disc brakes, with the partly linked Integral ABS available as an option. New lightweight five-spoke wheels and a full fairing with a taller and wider windshield all come as standard.
Three metallic paint schemes are offered: Dark Blue/Frost Blue, Pacific Blue and Titanium. -Brian Catterson
