SPIED! NEW YAMAHA SUPERBIKE

It’s little secret that Yamaha has a new superbike under development-World Superbike racer Colin Edwards has said as much in recent interviews-but this photo provides the first real evidence. Spied while it was being scrutinized by Edwards and teammate Scott Russell during a recent European racetrack test, the new bike is presumably a 750cc Four, though no one at Yamaha will say for sure. It appears to follow established sportbike practice, with a twin-spar aluminum frame, a bridged, double-sided aluminum swingarm and an upswept single muffler. The bodywork resembles that of the existing YZF1000, though the windscreen looks lower and the twin taillights are new. We’ll have more details as they become available.
