POLARIS TO BUILD MOTORCYCLES

Polaris, the ATV, snowmobile and personal watercraft manufacturer, is gearing up to build motorcycles. V-Twin-Dowered streetbikes. to be exact.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Patent and Trademark Office, Polaris was recently granted a trademark for the name "Victory Motorcycles." Furthermore, the company filed an opposition with the trademark office regarding Harley-Davidson's attempted enginesound trademark, which reads: "Polaris is currently developing a V-Twin, common-crankpin engine...of similar displacement to one or more of the V-Twin, common crankpin engines used in Harley's motorcycles."

Confronted with this evidence, a Polaris spokesperson declined to comment. Could the company's forthcoming V-Twin be used to power the world's first large-displace ment four-stroke ATV, snowmobile or personal watercraft? We suspect not. Stay tuned.
