GOTTA GET A GAS GAS

TO COMMEMORATE JORDI Tarres' sixth world trials title, Gas Gas has introduced its 1995 Contact JT25, a replica of the machine on which Tarres performs his motorized ballet.

Experience gained in competition has led to significant changes in the JT25, says Gas Gas. The bike’s 238cc, reed-valve, two-stroke engine received modifications to the cylinder head that reportedly improve combustion. The liquid-cooling system now also includes the crankcase, a design that keeps the clutch and transmission cool, providing a consistent shifting feel while the bike is ridden, claims the company.

Also redesigned is the JT25’s chrome-moly frame, which retains the geometry of last year’s model, but is said to be stronger. A new, stronger swingarm has been added, as well. Claimed dry weight for the motorcycle is 161 pounds.

Not ready for a Tarres replica? Or, maybe you’re looking for something a little more powerful than the 25. Gas Gas has your needs covered.

The Contact JT 12/16 comes in 125cc and 143cc versions, and is described as a bike for novice trials riders. Developed for the Japanese market, these

entry-level models get an engine that does without the intake-tract cooling. Claimed dry weight for both models is 169 pounds.

At the other end of the spectrum is the JT35, powered by a 327cc, two-stroke Single. The 35, ridden by Tarres’ teammate Joan Pons, is similar to the 25, except its seat height is about one inch higher. Gas Gas says the 35 weighs 174 pounds dry.
