A long with the usual attractions of Grand Prix, Superbikes and motocross, Daytona 1981 will have something old and new.

Vintage road racing. At last, not only have the speedway and AMA officials recognized the interest in old bikes, they're even sponsoring the race. It'll be run on Wednesday, March 4, on the infield course, that is, no dreaded bankings and long high speed runs for the oldies.

The list of eligible machines is too long to list here, but in general, there will be three classes: pre-1965 clubman racers, four-stroke and up to 500 cc; production racers like the Bultaco TSS, Yamaha TD-1 and Harley CR, ER and KR, plus any other old racers that meet the spirit of the rules.
