Just for entertainment, treat as a fact the existence of Santa Claus. Forget the sugar plums and the pony you never got. Santa Claus is cranking out the good stuff up north and here you are, all grown up except when it comes to motorcycles.
What’s on your list?
’Tis the season and all that. As our own Christmas card and wish book, the CW staff sat down and made lists of their own. For bikers, this present routine can be fraught with peril and occasional heartbreak. Some families and friends are into motorcycles, some aren’t. For those that aren’t, telling one’s wife, husband, parents or rich aunts just what to get is difficult. They don’t speak our language. Even when the family rides together, pickingjust the right present isn’t easy, ’cause only the bike’s owner really knows. It spoils the surprise to be too detailed, and if you aren’t, well, the wrong rack, pipe, tool bag or jacket is better than no gift at all.. . but not by much.
So. When it came time to do this traditional December/Christmas number, we had in mind what the average C W reader would like, whether the reader prefers road or dirt or both.
How we came up with the selections shown was just to pick what we’d like.
Price was no object. IfOT Scrooge was gonna lean out of the window and ask us to scoot down to the store for the best machine in the showroom, we wouldn’t quibble over money.
The only rule was intent of use. Motorcycles are specialized. Once we decided to round up the best aftermarket equipment on the market, we had to divide into class.
What you’ll see on the following pages is a Host of the Most for Man and Machine.
There’s Enduro, with a Yamaha IT400 prepared by A l Baker.
The motocross entry is a Suzuki RM125B from Moto-X Fox.
Sport riders get a Racecrafters Kawasaki KZ900, full race and street legal.
For touring there’s a Honda GL1000, with everything from Award Motors.
Around each bike is as choice a selection of goodies as the aftermarket offers. If it’s something you’d like, chances are it’s on display here. A11you need to do is draw a circle or an arrow or drop a hint to the right person.
After that, trust Santa Claus.
