NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
PANTHER MOTORCYCLES
Panther Motorcycles made its debut at the trade shows recently. Two models are being offered by the company: the dual-purpose Black Shadow, and a street version called the Super Sport. Both have a displacement of 175cc. The bikes are produced in Taiwan and are utilitarian in concept, much like Yamahas of mid-sixties vintage.
The Super Sport (pictured) features oil-injection and a five-speed gearbox.
Its single-cylinder, two-stroke engine produces a claimed 17 bhp, which qualifies the machine for freeway use in most states.
We did not have the opportunity to ride a Black Shadow, but the Super Sport is adequate for short-distance
commuting to and from work or school. Pricing should be modest, and upkeep should be both inexpensive and easy to perform.
