MZ HITS AMERICAN MARKET

The East German MZ motorcycle (Motorradwerk Zschopau) is soon to be available to the fuel-conscious American market. The three-model MZ line includes a 150cc and a 250cc machine, as well as the six-time winner of the International Six Days Trials, the MZ ETS250-1G5 competition motorcycle.

Byers Imports, a division of Geo. Byers Sons, Inc., Dept. CW-8, Columbus, OH 43215, is establishing dealerships in an eight-state Midwestern market area to sell more than 6000 of these gas-saving vehicles in 1974.

Already 30,000-plus motorcycles have been committed for the U.S. market for 1974 by the Zschopau factory. Next year the possibility of receiving more machines and more models of the MZ line appears likely.

Although the MZ ETS250-1G5 has been in the country before, the TS150 and TS250 street models are new to the American scene. The ETS250-1GS competition bike claims 32 hp at 6500 rpm, has two complete and separate ignition systems, completely enclosed drive chain, straight-pull spokes and a standard enduro toolkit, which contains sprockets, cables, special tools and^B first aid kit.

Like the ETS250 competition bike, the TS150 and TS250 street machines feature the fully-enclosed drive chain, super fork travel of 7.25 in., with twoposition adjustable rear shocks and the quick-release rear wheel. The bikes are powered by the high-performance MZ two-stroke Singles, claiming 12.5 and 21 hp, respectively, and are exceptionally smooth and quiet.

SWINGING ARM

MISI has announced that they have just what every dirt racer needs for a quick and inexpensive improvement to his bike—a lightweight, non-flexing swinging arm. They make them to bolt right on just about every model dirt racer.

They say that the swinging arms a^ heliarc-welded 4130 chrome moly that will take a beating without bending. Most models are a fraction of an inch or so over stock length for that little extra handling ease. Each model is designed and tested in competition so you know that you are getting the best answer.

Newest designs have optional shock mounting position in addition to the stock hole. The optional position lets the advanced rider set up rear suspension like the trick factory installations made popular by the pros.

MISI has also come up with a Trick Top Shock Mount Kit that combines with their new custom swinging arms to add a full inch more travel to stock shocks. MISI claims that the new set-up stops wheel hop and provides superior stability over the whoop-de-doos and the berms where races are won. ^

The Trick Top Shock Mount Kit comes with heliarc-welded 4130 chrome moly brackets, precision template for proper positioning for welding into place, and complete instructions.

Prices vary according to the make and model of bike, but swinging arm prices begin at $59.95, Trick Top Shock Mount at $24.95. MISI offers a special rate when you purchase both.
