BOOK REVIEW

RIDING THE DIRT, by Bob Sanford, 224 pages, published by Bond-Parkhurst Publications, Products Div., P.O. Box 2280, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Price: $6.95.

It seems strange that although Americans practically invented the sport of un-serious, for-the-hell-of-it dirt riding, nobody ever wrote a book for the guy who merely wants to have some fun.

Until now. Bob Sanford’s new book, “Riding The Dirt,” does just that. It covers the basic as well as the advanced It gives the newcomer a chance to get acquainted with the little things he should know before deluging himself with advanced techniques which he won’t begin to understand until he has abused body and bike for one or two years.

The book also covers items of technique and simple, basic maintenance.

Once those basics are covered, the book expands into specific areas relevant to the developing expert.

This book is for every dirt rider. If you are a novice you start at the front. If you are a smug expert you start from the back and work your way to the front.

And chances are, since it covers the topic the way most of us readers need it covered, in an informal, friendly an^ engaging style, you’ll use “Riding ThP Dirt” as a refresher handbook—something you can go back to year after year to set yourself straight.-Dan Hunt 0
