PROTO PRODUCTS AIR CLEANER
Proto Products is offering an option to the standard air cleaner for the Yamaha Mini-Enduro. Utilizing a Filtron washable element, complete protection against all dirt and foreign matter is provided, and plug fouling is substantially reduced. The air cleaner, claimed to provide four to five times greater breathing capacity, is supplied with a specially molded connector hose, and is easily installed. The Webco part number is 1242; retail price is $14.95. Available through all motorcycle dealers.
CENTRAL TOOL CO. LINE
Aragon Distributing Co., distributors of motorcycle supplies and accessories, has added the Central Tool Co. line of timing gauges, timing lights and micrometers to its line of products. Included is the dial indicator timing gauge, a precision instrument which gives accurate piston position readings on an easily readable dial. The dial is graduated in 0.01 mm. Two adaptors are included with the gauge to fit 12or 14-mm spark plug holes. Timing gauges graduated in thousandths of an inch are also available. The Central line also includes an inexpensive timing light for use on two-cycle or four-cycle engines. Clipped directly to the live side of the points, the timing light dims as the points open. MBI TOURING BAG
Tourers may welcome the touring bag now offered by MBI, Dept. CW-8, P.O. Box 4171, Stamford, CT 06907. Versatility is a key attribute of the bag: on the motorcycle, it straps securely on the tank; off, it doubles as a knapsack with simple adjustments of the straps. Made in Holland, the touring bag is constructed of heavy-duty black naugahyde, and includes a foam-padded bottom to protect the tank, and harness leather straps to secure it to the bike. It also features a transparent map case. Dimensions of the touring bag are 10 in. wide by 15½ in. long by 9 in. high for the regular size, and 11½ in. wide by 16 in. long by 9 in. high for the deluxe size. It can hold a second helmet, clothes, packages, and gear, and will keep all enclosed items dry under normal riding conditions. It fits any medium or large cycle. STRAIGHT CUT GEAR
Frictional losses in the drive train are often responsible for reducing an engine’s power output. Straight cut gears, offered by Pacer Consolidated Industries, do not add power to the engine per se, but permit the engine to develop its full potential by removing side thrust from the crankshaft. The gears are composed of a highgrade ductile steel and a nickel-bronze alloy. Although not as quiet as the stock helical gears, the increase in performance should be a balancing factor for the serious competitor to consider. CHAIN BREAKER
