HALLOWEEN IN DEATH VALLEY

...Ghosties and goblins and long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night.

UNDAUNTED BY SPOOKY LEGENDS of the area, an estimated 5,000 road riders converged on Death Valley, California last Halloween for the 10th annual occasion of the Death Valley Tour. Nearly 2,500 official entries (plus an equal number out just for the ride) make this the biggest road run in America. Riders who paid entry fees got a souvenir pin, a cigarette lighter, and were fed by the Southern California Harley - Davidson Dealers Assn. Many received trophies in presentations conducted by amiable Harley dealer Dick Hutchins. Long before the witching hour the riders were all tuckered out, their motors still, and there were only the quiet sounds of people camping. Any goblins lurking in Death Valley must have been awed that night.
